History & Heritage

The Eden Valley has a long and distinguished history, from the Roman road crossing the river at Edenbridge, to medieval buildings, coaching inns, courtyards, traditional English gardens, and old churches, that all have a story to tell.
Be inspired to come and visit the 13th century Hever Castle, once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn; Penshurst Place and Gardens, one of England’s oldest family homes; or Chartwell, beloved home of Sir Winston Churchill. The history of the valley as a whole can be seen at the Eden Valley Museum, itself located in a 14th century farmhouse.
